The newly-expanded Wild Goose Tavern in Costa Mesa, California, is a spacious lodge-inspired bar and restaurant offering elevated pub grub and straightforward handcrafted cocktails in a space that’s cozy and casual, adorned with vintage décor and storied local memorabilia.
A nod to the hunting lodge culture of eras past, Wild Goose Tavern celebrates the tradition of plentiful libations and good times after a hard day’s work. It's neighborhood bar meets chef & mixologist driven menus.
FOOD & DRINK
We offer elevated pub grub such as gourmet meats and sausages, Sicillian-style pan pizza, handmade sauces and dressings, and saloon favorites reimagined, as well as lighter fare and vegetarian and vegan offerings.
In addition to classically-crafted cocktails made using simple, yet high-quality ingredients, guests will find a select range of draught and bottled beer, as well as shelves stocked with single barrel whiskeys and small-batch spirits
THE TAVERN
In line with its lodge motif, comfy diamond-tufted booths and banquettes back up to walls trimmed with vintage wood scaffolding planks, cedar repurposed from a Newport Beach bay house, an array of taxidermy including a Canadian goose, stag, beaver and tossed in for good measure, a mythical “jackalope,” or two. A blend of framed hunting prints and paintings, retro beer signs, and repurposed lighting fixtures fashioned from old chicken feeders further punctuate the authentic rustic vibe. The new game room is now home to the famous red sign of Bay Arcade, who closed in 2017 after 70 years of serving the community at Balboa Fun Zone.
OUR HISTORY
The original Wild Goose Tavern opened in November 2012 and quickly became a popular destination for locals and visitors alike with its laid-back ambiance, handcrafted cocktails, and scratch kitchen. When presented with the opportunity to expand Wild Goose's footprint, our team spent much of late 2020 remodeling the bar and adding on new rooms and outside dining areas...But hardcore Goose fans need not to worry...we took great care in protecting the original ambiance and character while opening up our offerings to now include a game room, larger patio, courtyard, and an additional bar space appropriately named The Saloon. You will notice the main bar and back booths are in the same place as before. Even the front door is in the same spot. So when we say we are welcoming you back through the same door as always, we mean it.
More than just another local watering hole, Wild Goose aspires to continue to be a place where good friends and memories are made, a place to simply relax and unwind. Yes, a place you just may call your home away from home, and we hope you do.
